"You need to hold her"!

This weekend i worked at the Emergency Department at Kaiser Permanente. I'm a nurses assistant which I and many other ER Assistance are very valuable. We basically help the nurse out when they need it. And of course we do all the dirty jobs as well. So we had this patient come in for a face laceration to the bottom lip, not to mention that this patient was only 2 yrs. old. In order for the doctor to close the cut he would have to sew her up with two stitch. This is a simple task but not for a two year old. I literally had to wrap her with a bed sheet making her look like somekind of mummy and Velcro her down to a board. This poor little girl was clearly in pain and crying up a storm and I had to be the one that had to hold her head down. Let me tell you, when kids don't want to be touched they get this super human strength. So I was holding her head pretty tight but she saw still moving all over the place. The doctor finally tells me with this jerk attitude "You need to hold her or I'm gonna have to get someone else to do it". Immediately I'm holding this girls head like a football. The palms of my hands pressing down on her cheek bones. It was a real crazy exiting experience. Can't wait for the next pediatric patient (this is me being sarcastic). But I still love my job :0)
